Sustainability

OYSTAR Jones’ commitment to sustainability is based on the same values that have guided the company for over 100 years.  It starts in partnership with you, our customer, and our pledge to help you meet your own environmental and sustainability objectives.  We share the same goals:  reduce energy consumption, eliminate waste and reuse and recycle materials while decreasing costs throughout the packaging lifecycle.

Our Machinery – Designed for Sustainability:

Jones’ machines, the standard for excellence in the packaging industry, are designed to be energy efficient.  The use of servo driven motors on our equipment reduces energy consumption while increasing line efficiency.  All of our products are designed for quick, accurate changeover to eliminate waste.  Our machinery can run thinner flexible films, reduced weight  paperboard and packaging material capable of eliminating cases and trays for distribution.  Reducing these materials and optimizing package sizes results in less packaging materials, reduced fuel cost and optimized logistics. 

Our Factory – Best Practices for Sustainability:

OYSTAR Jones promotes lean manufacturing methodology company wide.  Every employee works towards continuous improvement to eliminate waste, streamline work processes and reduce cycle time.  Our production processes meet clean standards and worker safety is paramount.  Our state of the art machine shop manufactures parts using less energy and reduced scrap materials.  Any scrap metal produced, as well as paper and paperboard, is recycled.  Ultimately these initiatives improve quality and reduce costs.
